PriceWise is a web based facility commissioned by Grain Growers Association Ltd (GGA) and developed by Agricultural Reconnaissance Technologies Pty Ltd (Trading as Agrecon) that enables rural landholders, agribusinesses, traders and other industry stakeholders involved in buying and selling grain in de-regulated markets to obtain reliable information about delivery site, buyer, marketing options and farm gate equivalent prices of crop commodities produced anywhere in Australia.
It enables users to:
- Submit an address for any location in Australia;
- Locate and view an area of interest using satellite imagery;
- Identify the Grain Growers Association region and Port Zone within which their property falls;
- Use pan and zoom functionality to change the scale, search and viewing area
- View populated places, roads, railways, crop commodity delivery sites, Grain Grower Association regional boundaries and a range of other map themes;
- Check and edit user profile settings;
- Identify the location, storage capacity and other characteristics, transhipment options, distance to and contact details of operators at all sites (silos, outdoor storage areas, processing plants, super storages and shipping ports) to which agricultural crop commodities can be delivered;
- Select from a range of pricing options and obtain comparable farm-gate prices for all crops, grades, sites and buyers, adjusted for transport costs beyond the farm gate;
- Calculate the cost of transporting crop commodities by setting flag fall and haulage rates
- Obtain quality related price adjustment estimates for protein, screenings and moisture where these are offered by buyers;
- Identify date and time of latest price updates;
- Review temporal trends throughout the season in prices for any combination of crop commodity, grade and price type;
- Access latest international prices and chart historical changes in prices of principal agricultural commodities;
- View, print, export and send (by email) your outputs in image, map, table, or chart format.
The initial focus of PriceWise is on delivery sites, marketing options and farm gate equivalent prices of crop commodities for buyers that have obtained an export licence from Wheat Export Australia. Other domestic buyers will be added to the site as they come to hand. Additional functionality may subsequently be added in response to requests and suggestions from users.
PriceWise builds on the success of SprayWise Decisions that was sponsored by Nufarm, developed by Agrecon and released in May 2008 to provide 14 day weather forecasts on a rolling basis for each 1 sq km grid cell so that rural landholders and contractors can better plan and match the timing of agrochemical sprays to prevailing local weather conditions.
Additional Wise Decision information services to assist rural landholders at critical decision points throughout the season – including nutrient and other inputs, soil and water management, yield forecasting, production risk, climate change and carbon sequestration - will be progressively developed and released to the market during coming seasons.
After an appropriate fee-free introductory period, users of Wise Decision information services can purchase annual subscriptions by remitting payment.
